MusafirZade — From Delhi to Jaipur | Tracing the Pink City

In the lively land of Rajasthan, Jaipur known as “Pink City” — is a site that fuses its glorious past with present-day architectural wonders. A travel experience from Delhi to Jaipur provides traveler’s with a portal into the royal heritage and colorful traditions of Rajasthan. In addition, here is a complete itinerary to make the most out of your 3 day trip from Delhi to Jaipur.

DAY 1: DELHI TO JAIPUR

Early morning embark on your journey from Delhi. On the drive or train journey itself, you will learn of plenty-to-be-amazed wonders in Jaipur. People can also take the Shatabdi Express, a train favoured by those who choose to travel in style and which has you strolling around Jaipur after only about five hours on board.

After you arrive, check in at your hotel and get refreshed before starting to explore the city. Commence you city tour, with a trip to the majestic City Palace which houses classic blend of Mughal and Rajasthani architecture. City Palace is not a mere architectural wonder but the residence of descendants of former rulers who have lived here since this place was built.

Now go to Jantar Mantar — an early 18th-century astronomical observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh II. This site is a UNESCO World Heritage site with and hosts the world’s biggest stone sundial. The trip is actually quite educational and intriguing, as to how such ancient methods were used for astronomy.

The next, as the afternoon sun started to wane it was time for Hawa Mahal or Palace of Winds. The dramatic honeycomb-like facade of this incredibly iconic building was made so that royal women could watch street festivals without being seen from the outside. Light pink in Colour the palace is a must visit place if you are on your foot along with walking tour of Jaipur.

End your day with a leisurely walk in one of Jaipur’s famous market, Johari Bazaar. The bazaar is one of the spots to pick up all manners of exquisite Rajasthani jewellery, vibrant textiles and traditional handicrafts. Have the local feel and collect some more mementos before indulging yourself in a traditional Rajasthani dinner at Chokhi Dhani. BRC certified This themed village resort serves you with a culture-rich environment like horoscope making, cultural shows and Rajasthani cuisine.

Day 2: Discovering the Majestic Fortresses of Jaipur

Have a nice breakfast at your hotel to start the second day and then proceed towards Amber fort. The fort, which is a superb example of Rajput architecture, lies some 11 kilometers to the south-east of Jaipur city centre. The elephant ride to the entrance is by far one of the best things you can do in Jaipur, and spend your morning exploring it’s extensive courtyards, sprawling palaces & beautiful views from its ramps.

Jaivar Fort, located near Amber fort has worlds largest cannon on wheels : Jaivana(outside) which was never used in a war. Though significantly less grand and with a grimmer purpose than Amber Forts lavishness, the fort itself is quite fascinating.

After lunch, explore Nahargarh Fort which forms an elegant oval-shaped up on the edge of Aravalli Hills. Giving Jaipur a bird’s-eye view, the fort looks stunning especially during dusk. If you prefer stillness of the wind and beautiful scenery, this would be an ideal place for all photography enthusiasts.

While you are on the way back to city, visit Panna Meena ka Kund (stepwell dating from 16th century). The geometric coordination of stepwell is almost trippy, a great place to just take a deep breath and soak up some history.

An unforgettable evening calls for a visit to the Albert Hall Museum. In the center of town, this museum is home to ancient sculptures and paintings as well as textiles. The museum itself is beautifully lit up at night and built in Indo-Saracenic architecture so it looks regal as well, IMO making visiting this place a must when nearby on my list to make it fairy-tale like.

The day could not have ended on a better note, so you can enjoy dinner at the rooftop restaurant or terrace grill such as The Terrace Grill and Padao; where apart from good food ambience also welcomes to serve some stunning view what they owe to their altitude.

Day Three — Goodbye Jaipur, See You Soon

Finish your breakfast at the hotel in Jaipur, and check-out from there. Visit the Monkey Temple or Galta Ji and then, depart for Delhi. It is sitated in the middle of hills and includes natural springs with sacred water tanks making it an inhert serene place to visit.

Next, visit the Birla Mandir white marble temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. Enjoy the serene setting and grand architecture of this old temple to rejuvenate your spirit before returning.

Post lunch in Jaipur, head back to Delhi. Hotels are also available for really all budgets so whether you’re driving or taking the train, save that night to come back with a heart of memories and camera full stories pictures.
